A Fall Excavation is a great time for Archaeology. This is a week-long hands-on educational experience in which you will work side-by-side with professional archaeologists on actual archaeological research sites on the Montpelier property. While digging through Madison-era deposits, you will experience the excitement of uncovering artifacts and features that have been buried for more than two centuries! This is a perfect program for families to experience together.
This week-long expedition begins Sunday at 6:00pm and ends Friday at 4:00pm.
Housing is not included in the program pricing. Participants are responsible for their own housing arrangements. The many local hotels/motels/B&Bs can be found here: local hotels/motels/B&Bs There are a number of local airbnbs as well. Very limited on-site communal housing is available for Expeditioners who have done an archaeolgy program before, for an additional fee. Email dig@montpelier.org to inquire.
